Good morning Beloved Brethren,

Topic: CO-HABITING WITH THE ENEMY
Text: Read: Matthew 13: 25-40.
Daily Bible Study: Num. 7-8; Ps. 31

“So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? From whence then hath it tares?” (Matt. 13: 27).

The Bible records that a farmer planted good wheat seeds but later someone sneaked in at night to plant tares (stubborn weed) on the same farm. This is written figuratively to refer to the works of the enemy among earthly human beings. God created man perfect and put a right spirit within him, but the devil came secretly and put in demons to pollute and derail man from serving God accurately. God allowed both “seeds” to stay side by side sometimes as husband and wife, in-laws, children, brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews, uncles, aunties, neighbours, school mates, members of the same church denomination, political party, social club, or as colleagues at work. They are all to co-habit until the day of judgement when the wheat would be separated from the tares.

Despite this co-habitation, God’s children are warned not to be like the children of disobedience and unrighteousness. We are to love our neighbours (everyone known or unknown) as we love ourselves, but doesn’t mean doing what they do. It means doing unto them what you will like to be done also unto you. Our Lord Jesus while on earth mingled with sinners and even dined with them, but never behaved like them. Rather, He taught them what was right, by His words and general lifestyle. As God’s children, let us develop a godly way of living and encourage the repentance of those we co-habit with.

Prayer:  Dear Father, please help us to be wise while also being gentle with those we co-habit with. Help us to love our neighbours as we love ourselves, we pray in Jesus’ name – Amen.
