Topic: AVOID TALES AND NEGATIVITY
Text: Read: Psalm 41:6
Daily Bible Study: Num. 25-26; Mk. 8

“And if he come to see me he speaketh vanity…when he goeth abroad, he telleth it” (Ps. 41:6).

There are many reasons why people do what they do. Some people come to church today to seek a place of hope, love and kindness. They do not want a place filled with divisions, critics and gossips. There are, however, people who live their lives telling tales about other people. They listen and pretend to care, but are actually talebearers, judgmental and condemning.

Have you ever shared your heartache, burdens and deep feelings with another person in strict confidence, only to have them spread it all around? It is a sad thing when Christians carry tales and negativity. A faithful disciple of Jesus Christ should resist the temptation of gossips; revealing confidential information and spreading negativity about others. Negative tale-bearing causes great pain and hurt in the hearts of those affected. It weakens trust in the church and negatively affects the body of Christ.
So, what should we do when people confide in us? We should encourage them with words of hope from the Scriptures. We should pray with them and assure them that God will surely come to their aid. We can also encourage them to confess if it is necessary that they do so to be free from what troubles them. We should NEVER spread their confidential issues to others or discuss it carelessly, it should not be mentioned even when preaching or during public prayers – it seriously hurts and kills the spirit of unity, trust and love in the church.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to avoid gossips, tale bearing and every form of negative talks. Help us to encourage one another in difficult times and pray for others. We pray in Jesus’ name – Amen.

Good morning Beloved Brethren, Date: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2018 Topic: WALLS OF PROTECTION Text: Read: Proverbs 25:28 Daily Bible Study: Lev. 20-21; Matt. 28 “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls” (Prov. 25:28). In Old Testament times, walls around a city were a symbol of strength and security. Without walls, a town would be left open to easy attack, not just from humans, but even from wild animals. When Prophet Nehemiah realized that the walls around the city of Jerusalem were in ruins, he wept and mourned certain days; fasted and prayed before the God of heaven (Neh. 1:4). As it is to a city, so it is to an individual; a person who has no self-control is like a city without walls. He or she is open to enemy attacks at any given moment. When we fail to exercise self-control, the spirits of lying, gossips, backbiting, hatred, tribalism, racism, jealousy, rage, frustration, bearing false witness, and more, can enter our...
POLITICS (PLEASE POST YOUR OPINION) Donald Trump will tonight hand out his inaugural ‘fake news awards’ to the media outlets that have most angered him during his first year as President. The Commander in Chief announced the bizarre ceremony in a tweet late Tuesday, writing: ‘I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o’clock. ‘Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!’ President Trump has been most vociferous in attacking CNN for its supposed ‘fake news’, with the network widely expected to win the majority of gongs. The awards are likely to be ‘handed out’ in a series of scathing tweets from Mr Trump, and it is unclear whether he will present winners with any sort of booby prize. He popularized the term fake news during his White House run, using it to attack reports whose facts he disputes. But Trump’s critics claim it is an easy way of shouting down va...
