Good morning Beloved Brethren,

Topic: TRUE FREEDOM
Text: Read: Romans 6:15-18
Daily Bible Study: Gen. 13-14; Matt. 4
“Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness” (Rom. 6:18)
Everything valuable comes with a price – and freedom is no exception. Whether it is freedom to choose our place of worship, to travel across borders, or to pursue the career of our choice, our freedoms are costly. We owe an untold debt to those who fought and sacrificed for the political and social liberties we enjoy today.
While we should always be grateful to the men and women who have sacrificed so much for the freedom we experience today, our overwhelming thanks should be directed to God for the greatest sacrifice of all – our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Due to His sacrifice on the cross, we can experience the only true freedom: freedom from sin. Some within the church may think that since God’s grace pardons and forgives sin, a Christian does not need to be as careful to resist sin. This is very wrong! After accepting Christ, we must continue to choose whom we will serve. If we return to sin and stop resisting its influence and control over our personal lives, we will once again become slaves to sin, with spiritual and eternal death as the result.
If we accept our freedom from sin and continue to present ourselves as willing servants of God and His purposes, we will grow and become more like Christ and experience eternal life. Whatever type of political freedom we experience in this world cannot compare to tvhe freedom that Jesus gives. The daily liberties we treasure on this earth are fleeting, but our spiritual freedom will last for eternity.
Prayer: Merciful Father, thank You for sacrificing Your Son so that I might find true freedom in You. Help me to never take that for granted. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ – Amen.
