VOICE OF CHRIST (DAILY SPIRITUAL LESSON)

Date: FRIDAY JANUARY 4, 2019
Topic: HARMONY IN THE HOME: THE HUSAND
Text: Read:  Colossians 3:19
Daily Bible Study:  Genesis 9-10; Psalm 4.

Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them (Col. 3:19).

A couple was celebrating their 40th marriage anniversary and the wife remarked from her wheel chair, None else could have loved me like Tom. I owe him. As she spoke, tears rolled down the cheeks of those who knew their story. Their 40th anniversary, blessed with four sons, also marked her 40 years on a wheel chair. An accident had claimed both of her legs on their way to their wedding reception venue exactly 40 years ago.

Gods word admonishes the husband to love his wife unconditionally even as Christ loves the Church and gave Himself for the Church. One would wonder how Mr. Tom was able to hold on to his crippled wife for 40 years and counting. The simple reason is unconditional and limitless love. Very few men on earth could do what Mr. Tom did for his wife.

As the head of the home, husbands need to put the unity of the home ahead of personal comfort and achievements. While he expects cooperation from members of his family, the husband needs to uphold the family physically, morally, spiritually, financially and otherwise.

Being a husband is not just about ones gender, it is a call to serve your family. When a husband fulfills his duty at home to his wife and children, he automatically gets the respect due to him. Failure to fulfill his God-given role, he loses his authority over his family, thus giving way to disorderliness. If you are not yet a husband, start to prepare for your God-given role of husband-hood. Lets make our homes work and we will be happier for it.

Prayer: Almighty God, please help me to play my role in promoting harmony in my family, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ  Amen.

Good morning Beloved Brethren, Date: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2018 Topic: WALLS OF PROTECTION Text: Read: Proverbs 25:28 Daily Bible Study: Lev. 20-21; Matt. 28 “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls” (Prov. 25:28). In Old Testament times, walls around a city were a symbol of strength and security. Without walls, a town would be left open to easy attack, not just from humans, but even from wild animals. When Prophet Nehemiah realized that the walls around the city of Jerusalem were in ruins, he wept and mourned certain days; fasted and prayed before the God of heaven (Neh. 1:4). As it is to a city, so it is to an individual; a person who has no self-control is like a city without walls. He or she is open to enemy attacks at any given moment. When we fail to exercise self-control, the spirits of lying, gossips, backbiting, hatred, tribalism, racism, jealousy, rage, frustration, bearing false witness, and more, can enter our...
