VOICE OF CHRIST (DAILY SPIRITUAL LESSON)

Good morning Beloved Brethren,
Date: SUNDAY JANUARY 6, 2019
Topic: HARMONY IN THE HOME: THE CHILDREN
Text: Read:  Ephesians 6:1-3
Daily Bible Study:  Genesis 13-15; Psalm 6.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord; for this is right (Eph. 6:1).

When God evaluated man in the Garden of Eden, He saw mans need for a suitable companion and thus, made the woman. Procreation has been one invaluable gift in marriage that most societies look forward to in new marriages. Children are an heritage of the Lord and unarguably Gods gifts to families.

A football match is more likely won by a team whose coach and players understand their roles and play accordingly. God made the man the head of the home. Assisted by his wife, they are both responsible to train, provide, instruct, guide and maintain law and order at home. Both parents naturally demand respect and obedience from their offspring. A child in a home needs to recognize and respect this hierarchy of authority in the home. Parents are however advised not to provoke the children to wrath through their wrong, misguided or aggressive nature or behaviour (Eph. 6:4).

The harmony in many homes have suffered setbacks due to spouse transferring affection meant for the partner to children while neglecting the other partner; parents preferring one child over another; children attempting to be a judge over parents actions and decisions; parents sparing the rod over childrens misconducts, etc. Children need to be taught that their presence in a home is to add to the joy and fulfillment in the home. The prestige of ones personal parenthood should not be cheaply sold to disobedience, pride, stubbornness and insubordination. No matter your age, accomplishments or societal status, you are still the child of your parents, so be respectful and act humbly towards them always.

Prayer: Dear LORD, help me to be a promoter of unity in my family, I pray in Jesus name  Amen.

Good morning Beloved Brethren, Date: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2018 Topic: WALLS OF PROTECTION Text: Read: Proverbs 25:28 Daily Bible Study: Lev. 20-21; Matt. 28 “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls” (Prov. 25:28). In Old Testament times, walls around a city were a symbol of strength and security. Without walls, a town would be left open to easy attack, not just from humans, but even from wild animals. When Prophet Nehemiah realized that the walls around the city of Jerusalem were in ruins, he wept and mourned certain days; fasted and prayed before the God of heaven (Neh. 1:4). As it is to a city, so it is to an individual; a person who has no self-control is like a city without walls. He or she is open to enemy attacks at any given moment. When we fail to exercise self-control, the spirits of lying, gossips, backbiting, hatred, tribalism, racism, jealousy, rage, frustration, bearing false witness, and more, can enter our...
