VOICE OF CHRIST (DAILY SPIRITUAL LESSONS)

Date: TUESDAY JANUARY 8, 2019
Topic: WORK GENUINELY WITH YOUR HEART
Text: Read:  Colossians 3:22-25
Daily Bible Study:  Genesis 19-21; Psalm 8.

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto men (Col. 3:23).

Right from the Garden of Eden, man has been working and was so designed by God to work and please God while carrying out his work. After man was driven out of the Garden of Eden, mans work multiplied; yet God still wants man to work genuinely with all his heart and to please Him in all things.

Similarly, man has from time to time needed service from his fellow man since he alone may not be able to meet up with all that has to be done. Joseph in Portiphars house understood that he had to please his master at all times and he did just that. When workers genuinely please their masters, God Himself is pleased. God expects a good working relationship between an employee and his/her colleagues and also with his/her employer. Even in secular jobs, God is still interested in how we discharge our duties. God has never liked eye-service or any form of hopeless demonstrative hard work. Some companies have folded up because of the attitude of their workers. Some homes have made losses and gone far away from the path of righteousness because of the activities of their domestic staff. Imagine the harm that could have been done if Joseph had given in to Portiphars wifes demand.

As believers, we should know that God wants to take the praise in our excellent services and even in our secular jobs. If we can genuinely satisfy our employers (or employees), God will be pleased and will give us greater responsibilities, not only in our secular jobs, but also in His household  the Church.

Prayer: LORD God in heaven, please help me to work worthy of Your praise, I pray in Jesus name  Amen.
