VOICE OF CHRIST (DAILY SPIRITUAL LESSON)

Date: MONDAY JANUARY 7, 2019
Topic: HARMONY IN THE HOME: RELATIVES
Text: Read:  Mark 10:2-9
Daily Bible Study:  Genesis 16-18; Psalm 7.

What therefore God hath joined together let not man put asunder (Mark 10:9).

A widower once wrote on the tomb of his late wife, if only they allowed us to remain as one. His wife had swallowed poison from which she never fully recovered before her death, following increased frustration from her husbands relatives. Our text today points out that what God had joined together, let no man put asunder.

Many homes today find it difficult to experience serenity because their fences are too open to external influences from family and friends. Initially, these influences hardly come as threats to worry about, but in the long run, they exploit loose ends and siphon the peace in the home. Of course, it is an error to allow relatives, neighbours and friends to buy ones heart over and ahead of members of the nuclear family.

The responsibility of keeping a home free from invaders lies in the husband and wife. A good husband should not talk bad about his wife to anyone, nor always go complaining to his friends and relatives about her; same goes for a good wife. Both the husband and the wife should also refuse their external family members and friends to have a say in their marriage. Thus, the family will remain as one  undivided and in sweet harmony as designed by God (Mark 10:7-8).

God is in the business of cementing relationships in the home and any course of action or thought that goes contrariwise would have God to contend with. Pray for your friends/relatives homes today and watch God prosper your own family too.

Prayer: Dear LORD, I want to be a blessing to every home I come in contact with by the power of the Holy Spirit, I pray in Jesus name  Amen.

Good morning Beloved Brethren, Date: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2018 Topic: WALLS OF PROTECTION Text: Read: Proverbs 25:28 Daily Bible Study: Lev. 20-21; Matt. 28 “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls” (Prov. 25:28). In Old Testament times, walls around a city were a symbol of strength and security. Without walls, a town would be left open to easy attack, not just from humans, but even from wild animals. When Prophet Nehemiah realized that the walls around the city of Jerusalem were in ruins, he wept and mourned certain days; fasted and prayed before the God of heaven (Neh. 1:4). As it is to a city, so it is to an individual; a person who has no self-control is like a city without walls. He or she is open to enemy attacks at any given moment. When we fail to exercise self-control, the spirits of lying, gossips, backbiting, hatred, tribalism, racism, jealousy, rage, frustration, bearing false witness, and more, can enter our...
