Topic: THE EFFECTS OF PRAISING GOD ALWAYS
Text: Read: Acts 16:25-28
Daily Bible Study: Gen. 31-32; Ps. 8

“In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thess. 5:18).

In the Book of Acts 16:16-34, the enemy wanted to stop the evangelistic work of Paul and Silas. But Paul commanded the harassing evil spirit out of the young slave girl. Her annoyed owners stirred up the entire city against Paul and Silas. They were stripped, beaten and thrown into prison.
But at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang to the Lord, and a tremendous earthquake shook the foundations of the prison and opened their cell; they were free to go – but did not leave because they knew it would mean death for the jailer who had been charged to watch over them. Amazed by their commitment to God, the jailer accepted Christ as his Saviour. His entire family also believed and were all baptized. The next morning, Paul and Silas were freed by the officials.

Had Paul and Silas murmured or grumbled against God for allowing them go through such an ordeal while doing His service, they would have missed an opportunity to lead a man and his entire family to Christ. Their perception of God made them joyful and full of praises, even in the midst of troubles. Our perception of God determines if we are praising or complaining believers. There is far greater power available to us when we praise God, especially in the midst of confusing circumstances. We should endeavour to praise God at all times; not only when things are going well for us.

Prayer: Gracious God, help me to praise You always. Help me to trust in You in all circumstances, whether joyful or grim, remembering who You are. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ – Amen.
