Topic: YOU ARE NOT ALONE
Text: Read: 1 Kings 19:13-18
Daily Bible Study: Gen. 17-18; Matt. 5

“…the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant…and I, evenly only, am left and they seek my life, to take it away” (1 Kgs. 19:14).

When the children of Israel and their false prophets decided to worship idols, Prophet Elijah continued to serve God faithfully. He was zealous for God and boldly confronted all the prophets of Baal. In an encounter that showed God as the Almighty One, Elijah commanded fire from Heaven to consume a sacrifice pre-soaked in water. God heard him and sent down fire to the defeat of Baal’s prophets and shame on the children of Israel.

Yet, when Queen Jezebel threatened, Elijah felt alone, suddenly became terrified, ran away, and hid in a cave. Facing her threat, he thought he was the only person resisting evil, so he felt completely outnumbered. But God reminded him not to be afraid or feel alone. God was in control and Elijah did not need to give up or become discouraged.
We often feel afraid like Prophet Elijah when confronted by evil authorities. We feel alone and vulnerable thinking there is no hope. We then think of succumbing and joining the evil bandwagon so we don’t get victimized. Rather than succumb, we should stand firm in Christ, renew our relationship with God, trust in Him and remember that He is with us in every situation. No matter how things may seem on the surface, we are never alone. God is always with us! Do not worry about circumstances, or allow fear to dominate your life. Stay faithful, don’t give up. Be persistent. Trust in God.

Prayer: Almighty Father, thank You for being with me always. Free me from fear and worry and help me to remain faithful to You. I pray in Jesus’ name – Amen.
