Good morning Beloved Brethren,

Topic: DON’T BE OUT OF CONTROL
Text: Read: 1 Kings 11:3
Daily Bible Study: Gen. 7-8; Ps. 2

“And he had seven hundred wives, princesses and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart” (1 Kgs. 11:3).

King Solomon was so blessed by God; he could afford whatsoever he desired. In his time He had widespread fame and was courted by people from diverse parts of the world for his wisdom and majesty. But, he was unable to control his passion for women. He married many “strange” women, especially from nations whom the LORD warned the children of Israel against.
King Solomon’s wisdom, fame, wealth and majesty got to his head and he forgot that he owed everything to God. He was attracted to women regardless of what they believed; many of whom corrupted his godly standards. He joined them in committing idolatry and lost his God-centered foundation. The impact was felt in every phase of his life including his relationship with God.
Today, many still do same and even worse when God blesses them. They quickly forget God, lose control and jump suddenly into a worldly lifestyle. Excessive drinking, partying, fornication, adultery and neglect of one’s family set in. This can happen to anyone who takes his/her eye off God or who abandon God’s designs and principles, especially when riches, fame and power are attained. The downfall of such men is usually tragic!
Let us pray God to grant us self-control at all times, by allowing the Holy Spirit rule our minds and hearts. Increase in wealth should be channeled to the furtherance of the Gospel and to the benefit of mankind; not to uncontrolled riotous living.

Prayer:  Almighty God, please help us to rededicate our lives to You and use the wealth You have given us for positive things, to Your glory, and the benefit of fellow men. We pray in Jesus’ name – Amen.
