Good morning Beloved Brethren,

Topic: STANDING FIRM
Text: Read: 2 Thessalonians 2:15
Daily Bible Study: Lev. 10-11; Ps. 25

“Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which ye have been taught whether by word, or our epistle” (2 Thess. 2:15).

Apostle Paul informed the young believers in the busy seaport of Thessalonica that they would suffer hardships and persecution for their beliefs. He knew their beliefs would be tested and so encouraged them to be prepared and to overcome by standing firm on the doctrines of Christ received from the apostles.
Today, just as in the time of the Thessalonians, our faith in Christ is constantly under attack. Christian beliefs are laughed at and criticized by the heathen, who lack adequate knowledge of the word of God. In many places, Christians are not even allowed to preach, conduct evangelism, and have public prayers or to meet and worship. Our moral values are also under attack. How should we respond? Like the Thessalonians, we should stand firm in our beliefs without wavering, hold on to the sacred doctrines of Christ our Saviour and pray for the grace to continue steadfastly in the Word of God.
Standing firm is never easy, especially when people you expect to stand with you derail and join the bandwagon of evil. Nevertheless, we should be bold and courageous even in the face of fierce opposition. God’s word has always and will forever prevail. The devil is already a defeated foe and knows his time will soon be up, so he stirs up stiff opposition to the word and will of God. Let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (Gal. 6:9).

Prayer: Dear Father, help us to stand firm and hold on to the teachings You passed unto us. We know we are not alone. Give us the strength to stand firm in our beliefs, we pray in Jesus’ name – Amen.

POLITICS (PLEASE POST YOUR OPINION) Donald Trump will tonight hand out his inaugural ‘fake news awards’ to the media outlets that have most angered him during his first year as President. The Commander in Chief announced the bizarre ceremony in a tweet late Tuesday, writing: ‘I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o’clock. ‘Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!’ President Trump has been most vociferous in attacking CNN for its supposed ‘fake news’, with the network widely expected to win the majority of gongs. The awards are likely to be ‘handed out’ in a series of scathing tweets from Mr Trump, and it is unclear whether he will present winners with any sort of booby prize. He popularized the term fake news during his White House run, using it to attack reports whose facts he disputes. But Trump’s critics claim it is an easy way of shouting down va...
