Topic: STANDING AGAINST CORRUPTION
Text: Read: James 4:7
Daily Bible Study: Ex. 29-30; Ps. 20

“Submit yourselves therefore to God, Resist the Devil and he will flee from you” (Jas. 4:7).

Corruption is a spiritual warfare. Taking a stand against corruption entails persuading and resolving oneself to abstain totally from all its manifestation. Every Christian should display true and total reverence, deep respect and recognition for God in his life affairs. We must give heed to the true study of God’s word so we can be equipped with knowledge and wisdom to stand against corruption. The Holy Spirit is also the believer’s, partner in the fight against all sin. We must recognize his presence and listen to Him. Furthermore, a prayerful life will keep us spiritually alert to the whims of the devil.

On our personal angle we should make our priorities straight – heaven first and other things thereafter. Even while working and aspiring for higher levels, the virtue of contentment with the present state of things cannot be overstressed. Let us go at God’s pace, and not at the pace of the heathen. Society celebrates the “rich” not caring how the money is made. But we know that such wrong “riches” never end well. Having food and raiment, let us therewith be content. It is the extent of our obedience that will commend us before God, not our material gains.
Brethren, the virtues of hard work, patience, love of God, hospitality and godliness are the primary factors that should be upheld if we are to overcome the onslaught of corruption. We must rise up to its challenges on daily basis, and say no to its contents, no matter how attractive they may be. We must speak against corruption and flee from it.

Prayer: Lord God, help us to set our affections on things above. Help us to resist the devil and every form of corruption. We pray in Jesus’ name – Amen.
