Topic: EFFECTIVE PRAYERS
Text: Read: Romans 2:13
Daily Bible Study: Num. 1-2; Mk. 2
“For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified” (Rom. 2:13).
Prayer is our greatest form of communication with a holy and righteous God who has provided a way for us to not only worship Him but to also know Him personally. Through prayer, we discover the depths of God's mercy and love for us. Prayer is our means of confessing our sins, and receiving God’s forgiveness. It is also our means of asking and receiving blessings from God. In spite of these advantages, many till avoid prayer.
The Bible tells us that, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (Jas. 5:16). Who then is a righteous man and how does he pray effectively? Righteousness means doing what is right according to the Word of God. A righteous man wants to see God's Truth and will established on this earth. A righteous man is a man who is in right standing with God. A righteous man has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. A righteous man seeks to obey God and yields to the dictates of the Holy Spirit.
For those who are in a right relationship with God, their prayers will open the way for a Spirit-filled life and bring them power for ministry. Their prayers will bring others who are spiritually lost into a relationship with Christ; and also bring them healing, grace, mercy, peace and hope. Let us strive to be righteous and pray effective prayers to heal our sicknesses, liberate souls from darkness and set the captives free from the strong hold of the enemy.
Prayer: Almighty God, please reveal anything in my life that might be a hindrance to my relationship with You. Help me to live righteously and pray effectively. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ – Amen.
